Hi, my name is Sonia, this is my first year coming to camp,
I am coming from New Jersey (USA) and so far it´s been very fun with all the
horses and people. The experience is very different from what I am used to but
I got to try a lot of new things I´ve never done before.
Yesterday in the morning we went to the endurance (raid)
trouogh the Granada countryside with a group. I was riding Buleria who was
really good during the entire endurance. We trotted and cantered up ad down the
hills and through the small trees. At the same time we got to the the entire
city of Granda from above, which was very beautiful. We got to a small
town and cantered through the streets
with the horses. Throughout the entire endurance the group was throwing almonds
at each other which was entertaining.
After we came back from the endurance, we washed all the
horses that were sweating like crazy since it was so hot.
After we rested, we took out two young horses who were
Hawainano and Gloria who, for the fisrt
time, we put saddles on them and worked them for a half hour or so on the
lunge. Gloria who is younger did very well and Hawaiano who is older seemed to
be uncomfortable but in the end he also did very well and Abraham went on the
top of Hawaiano on the saddle and rode him and it was very impressive beacuase
it was the first time and he did well.
We got into the pool and talked. Laura convinced Maria to
participate in a sidesaddle show. Everything was “peaceful” until Abraham got
in the pool and everyone got wet and then it turned into a splash war or
something.
We started to get the horses ready and put on our riding
clothes for the “carrera de cintas”.
Which basically was a contest were you had to canter towards a bunch of
ribbons that were hung up high on a string and try to stick the stick that
you´re holding through the small hole that was attached t the ribbon. The
person who got the most ribbos was the winner. I rode Albaycin. I never was
able to catch a ribbon which was frustrating but it was still really fun. My buddie/partener,
Ana got a ribboon though. That contest was probably my favorite one we did.
After riding some of us went to the kitchen to make pizzas.
We ended up making 8 pizzas and one pizza was shaped like a head of a horse.
After we ate we were told that we were going to go for a walk, but everyone knew it was going to be the “night of
terror”. The first thing that freaked us
out was a sketchy car that was parked in the dark that suddenly turned on.
Everyone ran way real fast. Then we got to some caves were a guy who came out
of nowhere and thats when everyone started to scream, cry, run around, and grab
people/shirts/arms etc. There was another guy inside the cave who was
surrounded by candles. We kept walking and those two guys continued to follow
us and pop up out of nowhere the entire time we walked back too the camp. But
when they snatched Chispa, that´s when they
chased after the guy. We finally got back to the camp...some a lil traumatized.
